CAN-DPV Industrial Automation Module

The GESAS CAN-DPV is an Industrial Ethernet gateway module used to bridge communications between CANopen and PROFIBUS-DPV fieldbus networks. Its core function is to act as a protocol converter, enabling data exchange between devices connected to different bus networks.

Main Functions

The GESAS CAN-DPV module’s primary functions are protocol conversion and data mapping:

• Protocol conversion: Its core function is to convert CANopen message formats into PROFIBUS-DPV message formats, and vice versa. This enables devices using different protocols (for example, a CANopen drive and a PROFIBUS-DPV PLC) to operate together in the same automation system.
• Bidirectional Communication: The module supports bidirectional data flow. It can read data from a PROFIBUS-DPV network and send it to a CANopen network, and vice versa.
• Master/Slave Functionality: Depending on the configuration, the module can function as a master in one network and a slave in another. For example, it can function as a master in a PROFIBUS-DPV network and a node in a CANopen network.
• Data Mapping: The module can be configured with an internal data mapping table to map specific data addresses in one network (e.g., a CANopen object index) to specific addresses in another network (e.g., a PROFIBUS-DPV input/output address), ensuring correct data transmission.
